Graffiti Alley

For my first official post, I thought I’d share a little something from my daily life. Known by many names, including “pee alley” and “creepy alley”, this alley just off Mass Ave in Central Square Cambridge is ever changing. It was opened up by the building owner about 18 months ago for a graffiti contest, and now the boring brick that was there before is covered from end to end in some fantastic work. I love how every week there seems to be a new layer of art, and some artists work off the existing graffiti and build it into their own designs.

My favorites include: the melting ice cream (which was actually painted by a guy with an artists’ palette of oil paints at about 7 am this fall), the floating head with orange hair (a new addition to the wall), and the evil pink octopus soldier.
